Governance and Autonomy
How SimOracle treats autonomy as the goal while using authority boundaries, approval gates, and audit trails to make autonomy credible.
Autonomy is the destination
SimOracle is not merely a reporting assistant. The product is designed to move work. The question is not whether autonomy matters; the question is where autonomy is earned, what evidence supports it, and which actions must remain governed.
A credible autonomy system needs an authority ladder. Some work can be answered immediately. Some work should be recommended. Some work should be drafted and held. Some work can act within a defined rule. Some work must always require human approval.
Authority modes
- Answer: the system provides information without changing external state
- Recommend: the system proposes a next action with evidence and uncertainty
- Draft: the system prepares work for review but does not release it
- Hold: the system pauses because policy, risk, or confidence requires approval
- Execute: the system acts inside a configured authority boundary
- Escalate: the system routes the work to the correct human owner
Why governance improves autonomy
Governance is not a retreat from autonomy. It is the mechanism that lets an organization grant autonomy without losing control. Every approval, override, release, and outcome gives the system and the operator a clearer view of what can be delegated next.
Sensitive-domain posture
- Healthcare: start with operational workflows around care, not autonomous clinical diagnosis or treatment
- Insurance: start with evidence review and decision packets, not autonomous binding adjudication, pricing, or payment
- Legal: support counsel-controlled review, drafting, monitoring, and routing rather than public claims of legal advice
- HR: automate routine support and process consistency while preserving human review for consequential employment decisions
What a reviewer should look for
- Can the product show the context it used?
- Can it explain the consequence it modeled?
- Can it say why it recommended, held, escalated, or acted?
- Can a human approve, override, or narrow the authority boundary?
- Can the action and outcome be audited later?
